Today I will be reviewing the game boy game Pokemon. From yellow to emerald. i can truly say that Ive enjoyed these games, and still do. Ive always been a fan of the Pokemon franchise because of its consistency. unlike most video game series Pokemon doesn't have an ugly cousin or any terrible sequels, this is because game play and the battle systems stay the same throughout the series. the battle system used in Pokemon is turn based, this makes the game fairly calm, however each of the attack animations gives a sort of brutal feel, this is because the animations are swift with a kind of explosion that follows and if lucky the opponents health bar drops.the battle system has an integrated rock paper scissors feel, by this i mean certain elements are more powerful against others, this is a key strategy to use in battles. these elements include, ghost, psychic, fire, water, grass, rock, steel, dark, flying, electric, dragon, fighting, poison, bug, ice, ground, and normal types. which type of Pokemon you use against another can easily determine the outcome of a battle despite a difference in levels. Speaking of levels, the level progression system in Pokemon is simple and reliable, for each Pokemon you defeat you obtain a certain amount of exp. exp grows until it reaches the set goal and the Pokemon's level increases. Defeating a Pokemon with a higher level than your own can be a nice way to level up faster. The ability to level up gives a feeling of progress even when your just lost in a dark cave without the move flash. speaking of moves you can use outside of battles, there are many hm's or hidden moves that you can teach Pokemon to help you progress in the game, or overcome obstacles, an example of this would be the move strength, this move allows you to push boulders out of your way, without this move there would be no way of beating the game because you could not progress. there are also puzzles within the game that use this to their advantage, these sometimes include mazes, or boulders in a formation so that if you move them in the correct order you can pass through. MAZES!!!!!! something the Pokemon games excel in, mazes, an irritating yet necessary obstacle in each Pokemon game, they make the amount of time you play increase so the game cant be beaten in a day, the mazes also help make the game frustrating, and this can lead to it being addicting. in each Pokemon game there are also.... LEGENDARIES!!!! for me these made the game super hype. i freaked out when i encountered mewtwo, or rayquaza or zapdos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved the legendaries, catching them made you an instant boss. it allowed you to gloat to your friends more, not only that but each legendary had a certain skill it outdid all others in, for zapdos I'm pretty sure it was attack and speed. Ive always been a fan of the first 150 Pokemon. but there are more than that now, and thats ok... because it just means more to catch. more type combinations and differences in strength. more to battle and find. I'm cool with that. wait what? robotic Pokemon? like generators? wtf. your kidding right? your serious?! nah. i refuse to believe this crap. ew. just no. it doesn't exist. now I'm in my happy place.

anyway... there are also downsides to Pokemon, im sad to say. the slight feeling of embarrassment you feel while buying it is because its marketed towards 10 year olds more than anyone. or the fact that some of the characters are... too consistent, there's not much character development, i was however happy with the team magma and team aqua development in emerald. but it took till the last hour of gameplay for them to realize they were morons. also the blunt statement of who a character is. XD its as if the main character just classifies everyone as soon as he sees them like Lass Jane or scientist blublub. in that respect there coulod have been more effort. but i guess the lack of emphasis on these characters allows the bosses more spotlight and makes them more important. overall i give this game an 8 of 10. bravo. this has been digitals game reviews. i hope i have time to make another shortly. if you have suggestions leave a comment!
AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never really been into that type of stuff, but you really did a great job thoroughly describing the ups and downs of the Pokemon games!
great job, Digital!
I must say, I'm impressed! You got very in-depth with the game, you covered pretty much everything, and you put forth your own opinions and how you personally interact with the game, too! Well done
Like I said, great job
